Jane Drake Hoer

Dolores Jane Drake Hoer, 80, of Mexico, died at 12:56 a.m. today, Oct. 16, 2006, at Audrain Medical Center.

Mrs. Hoer was born on Jan. 31, 1926, in Mexico, a daughter of Ernest Jr. and Beulah Gay Roberts Garrett. She was a graduate of Mexico High School in the class of 1944. On Jan. 19, 1946, she was married to Frederick J. (Bob) Drake, who died in March 1978.

Jane lived in Tipton for 36 years, where she managed a savings and loan association for 11 years. On June 12, 1981 she married George E. Hoer and returned to Mexico. Mr. Hoer died on June 9, 2006. She was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church and a long-time volunteer at Audrain Medical Center.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pickering Funeral Home. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. with Father Henry Reichert officiating. Funeral services will be held at the First Christian Church in Tipton on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Randy Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery.

Survivors include her children, Virginia Anthony and husband Art of Grayson, Ga., Kimmie Meinershagen and husband John of Versailles, and Amy Schad and husband Dwayne of Versailles, Bob Drake and wife Nancy of Centralia; Tom Hoer and wife Karen, Mexico, Terry Morrow and husband Dan, Kearney, Steve Hoer and wife Sherry, Trenton, Marty Hoer and wife Amy, Paris, and Matt Hoer and wife Missy, Mexico; a step-sister Elaine Hutchinson, Mexico; 28 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, a son, F. J. Drake Jr., a daughter, Mary Ellen Hoer Gifford, and three brothers, Richard and Kenneth Garrett, and Warren Duschene preceded her in death.

Memorials may be made to St. Brendan Catholic Church in Mexico or the First Christian Church of Tipton, and may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
