J.O. Case



Jasper Oliver (J.O.) Case, 94, of Mexico, died at 6:07 p.m. Nov. 13, 2007, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico.


Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Pickering Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Stone officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park. His grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.


Mr. Case was born May 5, 1913, in Hamden, a son of James Oliver and Mary Magdalen (Lain) Case. On June 29, 1941, in Salisbury, he married Ruth Harmon, who survives at the home. Prior to going into service in 1942, he farmed. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 until 1945, serving in England, France and Belgium. Upon his return, he went to work at A. P. Green Refractories, where he remained for 30 years until retirement.


He was a member of the Mexico United Methodist Church, loved tinkering, woodworking, attending auctions and antiques.


In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, David Case and wife Debbie of Lee s Summit; two daughters, Joan Fecht and husband Larry, and Vivian Miller and husband Chris, all of Mexico; nine grandchildren, Andy and Lisa Fecht, Shannon, Jeremy, Rebekah and Jared Case, and Mark, Brian and Steven Miller; and 10 great grandchildren.


Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.


The family suggests that memorials be given to the Mexico United Methodist Church, Missouri Veterans Home, or the Alzheimer s Association. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
