Jerry D. Carson, 71, of Mexico, died at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020, at Landmark Hospital in Columbia.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Maxwell officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from Noon until service time. Burial with military honors will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.

Jerry was born May 5, 1948, in Mexico. He is the son of Russell D. and Helen B. (Claywell) Carson.

Mr. Carson was a veteran. He served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a life member of the Mexico VFW 3772 and Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed fishing and keeping horses.

Survivors include two sons, Travis Carson, Centralia, and Tracy Carson, Higbee; one daughter, Shawnna Carson, Mexico; three brothers, Daniel Carson, Mexico, Jeremiah "Bill" Carson, Carthage, and Larry Carson, Mexico; two sisters, Phyllis Harre, Moberly, and Helen Rench, Augusta, GA.; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Russell "Rocky" Carson, and one granddaughter, Britney Tessman.
