John L. Wright, Sr.

John L. Wright, Sr., 72, of Mexico, died Sunday, December 8, 2013.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Karen Taylor officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from Noon until service time. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

John was born August 17, 1941, in Mexico, a son of Elmer Leslie and Lena Carolyn (Spires) Wright. On January 24, 1976, in Mexico, he married Judy K. Tidball who survives at the home.

He worked for Mexico Heating Company for 34 years. He was a member of the Mexico United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge and Local 36 Sheet Metal Workers International.

In addition to his wife Judy, survivors include one son, John L. Wright, Jr., Moberly; two grandchildren, John L. Wright, III, and Christina Kay Wright, Mexico; four sisters, Ruth Ann Montague and husband J.D., Columbia, Linda Kidd and husband Robert, Wamego, Kans., Carolyn Thompson, and Helen Burkhead, both of Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Wayne Wright.
