Jon R. Grossman




Jon R. Grossman, 70, of Mexico, died at 7:40 a.m., Wednesday August 24, 2011, at Golden Living Center/Pin Oaks in Mexico.


Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. David Nash officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. with an Elks service at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.


Mr. Grossman was born on Sept. 29, 1940, in Bosworth, Mo, the son of Clarence Eugene and Ruth Evelyn (Couch) Grossman. On July 23, 1964, in Carrollton, Mo., he married Joyce M. Rouse who survives him at the home. He worked as a delivery man for Sinclair Pipeline for many years and was now retired.


He was a veteran having served in the US Army from 1962 to 1969 at Ft. Leonard Wood.


Jon was a member of the First Christian Church. He loved working with the Mexico Elks Lodge and was a past Exalted Ruler of the lodge and had served as Grand District Deputy of the Elks N.E. District. He was a member of the American Legion and NAWCC Watch and Clock Organization. He enjoyed collecting and working on clocks.


In addition to his wife, survivors include his mother, Ruth Grossman, Mexico; four sons, Robert E. Grossman and wife Michelle, Arlington, Tex., Robert E. Grossman, Fulton, Chris Shaddy and wife, Kelly, of Ark., and Dustin Grossman, Mexico; one daughter, Heather Grossman, Mexico; and seven grandchildren, Cody, Carson, Taylor, Liza, Cate, Mary, and Madison.


He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence, and one sister, Arlita Grossman.


Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Dream Factory and sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
