Juanita Erdel



Juanita Erdel, 89, of Mexico, died at 12:20 pm Tuesday July, 14, 2015, at Golden Living - Pin Oaks in Mexico.


Visitation will be Thursday July 16, 2015, from 5 - 7 pm at Pickering Funeral Home.


The family will hold a private graveside service. Burial will be held at East Lawn Memorial Park.


Juanita was born October 25, 1925, in Vandalia, MO, a daughter of Guy L. and Effie Mae (Hobbs) Ulrich. On June 8, 1945, in Mexico, she married Roy G. Erdel who preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 2002. She was a graduate of Mexico High School.


Juanita was a homemaker for most of her life but at age 63 she went to Erdels Mercantile to wrap Christmas presents for the afternoon. 17 years later she retired from Westlakes. She was an avid Bridge player and in her younger years she enjoyed playing golf. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was a member of First Christian Church.


Survivors include two daughters, Susan Atkins and husband Alan, and Nancy Oliver and husband Bruce all of Mexico; Four Granddaughters, Amy Atkins Culwell and husband Tim of Lake St. Louis, Anne Atkins Williams and husband Wes of Columbia, Sarah Oliver Dickherber of Mexico and Rebecca Oliver Robertson and husband Casey of Rolla; seven great grandchildren, Haley and Clay Culwell (she and Clay shared a birthday), Grace and Garrett Williams, Jacob and Henry Robertson, and Sean Dickherber.


In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Lealon Ulrich.


Memorials may be given to the Help Center or the Children's Therapy and Early Education School. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
