Julia K. Smith, 76, of Mexico, died at 2 a.m., Monday Feb. 3, 2020, at her home in Mexico.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday Feb. 8, 2020, at Rush Hill Community Church with Rev. Bob Stanford officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in fellowship hall at the church. Interment will be in East Lawn Memorial Park. Pickering Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Julia was born on Feb. 10, 1943, in Mexico. She was the daughter of Walter and Ida May (Pierce) Doerge. On June 22, 1985, she married Robert L. Smith who survives.

Julia spent 40 years working as a nurse. She was a member of Rush Hill Community Church. She had volunteered at the senior center and doing music at various nursing homes.

In addition to her husband Robert, survivors include one brother, Bernard Doerge and wife Alvera, of Hallsville; one brother in law, Ron Reinerd, Mexico; numerous nieces and nephews; and several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Reinerd; three brothers, Bobby, Donnie, and Chuck Doerge; and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rush Hill Community Church. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
