Laura Margaret Miller


Laura Margaret Miller, 95, of Mexico, died at 6:55 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2015, at her home.


Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Karen Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Pickering Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.


She was born Dec. 19, 1919, in Macon County, MO, a daughter of Clyde and Hettie (Perkins) Chrystal. On Sept. 9, 1974, in Jay, Oklahoma, she married Sherman M. Miller. He preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1995.


When her two children were older she worked for Montgomery Ward for over 25 years in the Kansas City area. After retiring she moved to Warsaw, MO in Benton County. There she was very involved with the Benton County Democratic Club for several years and she was highly involved in the State Senior Democratic Club from 1990 to 1995. Mrs. Miller moved to this area in 1995, living first in Laddonia and later locating in Mexico.


Survivors include one daughter, Marion Angell of Bloomsbury, NJ; one brother, Estil Chrystal of Mexico; one sister, Virgie Twyman of Moberly; one daughter in law Sandy Farres of NJ; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including a great niece Chrystal Shuck of Mexico who the family wishes to thank for all her help.


In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by one son, Alfred M. Farres; one sister and four brothers.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to SSM Health Hospice. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
