Laurann Webber

Laurann Webber, 68, of Mexico, died at 8:55 p.m., Friday, November 14, 2014, at her home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Terry Kukuk officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in fellowship hall. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21st at Pickering Funeral Home. Inurnment is in the Columbarium at First Presbyterian Church.

Laurann was born Jan. 7, 1946, in Troy, IL, a daughter of Frederick "Hap" and Eleanor (Ashmann) Liebler. On April 17, 1971, in Troy, she married Larry D. Webber who survives.

Laurann grew up in Troy where she was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church and a graduate of Triad High School in 1964. She obtained a BS in Pharmacy in 1969 from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Laurann was the first female pharmacist in the Mexico area. She owned and operated the Medicine Shoppe in Mexico for many years. The business is still family owned and is now Jackson Street Drug.

Laurann was very active in her community. She was a Charter member of the Altrusa Club of Mexico, a long time board member of the Miss Missouri Scholarship Pageant where she served for many years preparing each new Miss Missouri for the Miss America Pageant. She also served many years as chairman of judges. During the school years of her boys she was active in the parent organizations. In her desire to help others, Laurann participated in literacy tutor training through the Audrain County Area Literacy Council. She enjoyed helping English language learners improve their skills and comprehension. She was also a charter member of W.O.W.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Justin A. Webber, and Brendan A. Webber (Melissa Farris), all of Mexico; one sister, Patricia Earnshaw, Alton, IL; two brothers in law, Bruce Webber (Jill) Stillwater, OK, and John Webber (Pat) Rochester, IL.; two nieces, Lori Earnshaw, Louisville, KY, and Anna Lynne Webber, Columbia, MO; four nephews, Charlie Earnshaw, Alton, IL, Ryan Webber, Edmond, OKand Jess Webber, Oklahoma City, OK, and John Bryan Webber III, Columbia, MO; as well as several grand-nephews.
