Lee Johnson
Lee Johnson, 80, of Mexico, died at 1:10 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at University Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Avery officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 2 p.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
Lee was born in Versailles, Mo., Nov. 27, 1932, the son of Charles Elwood and Ellen (Walters) Johnson. On January 18, 1974, in Mexico, he married Darlene Applebee, who survives at the home.
Lee worked for the City of Mexico for several years. He also worked at Prenger Car Wash for 12 years. He was a member of a member of Friendship Baptist Church and loved to coon hunt.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Gary Johnson and wife Marcella of Mexico and Jason Johnson and wife Jessica of Mexico; one brother, Loren Johnson of Clarksburg, Mo.; five sisters, Genevieve Guthrie and husband Dale of Bakersfield, Calif., Thelma Lorene Tomblinson and husband Raymond of Versailles, Mo., Darlene Lujent and husband Marvin of Warsaw, Mo., Kay Branch and husband Ray of Stover, Mo., and Debby Gilmore and husband Steve of Warsaw, Mo.; four grandchildren, Gary, Randall, Aaron and Trenten; and six great-grandchildren, Jamie, Brianna, Garrett, Logan, Taylor and Chloe.
Lee was preceded in death by two sons, Terry and Jerry; and two brothers, Jewell and Dale.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to the American Cancer Society. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
