Leo W. Wolfe



Leo W. Wolfe, 88, of Mexico, died at 11:15 a.m., Sunday, December 25, 2011, at Golden Living Center - Gamma Road Lodge in Wellsville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 29, at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Robert H. Marty officiating. Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Leo was born on Jan. 9, 1923, in Plato, Mo., a son of Oliver Francis and Beulah Bessie (Rush) Wolfe. On Sept. 22, 1942, in Jefferson City, he married Mildred Alleen Tillman, who preceded him in death on Oct. 26, 1983. He worked at A.P. Green Refectories where he retired in 1985.

He was a WWII Veteran in the US Army having served from 1943-1945.

Leo was a member of the First Christian Church where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Survivors include one son, David Wolfe, St. Louis; one granddaughter, Amanda Hawkins and husband Dale, Montgomery City; two great grandchildren, Paige and Emma Hawkins; and his longtime companion Betty Zimmerman.

In addition to his wife Mildred, he was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 26. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
