LeOra Hildebrand Zike


LeOra Hildebrand Zike, 74, of Mexico, formerly of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Columbia, died at 5:35 p.m. April 6, 2006, at Pin Oaks Nursing Center in Mexico.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 8, at 1:00 p.m., at Pickering Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.


Mrs. Zike was born on Sept. 21, 1931, in Laddonia, a daughter of John Martin and Inez Verna Lewis Hildebrand. She was a graduate of Centralia High School. She was married to Howard Zike, who died about four years ago. Following his death, she moved back to Mexico. Mrs. Zike had worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for most of her life, most recently as secretary for a CPA firm in Cheyenne. She enjoyed gardening and loved to bake goodies for her co-workers. She loved children, especially her nieces and nephews, and faithfully bought coats for young children for the annual coat drive. She was active in the Cheyenne Elks Lodge.


Survivors include one brother, Donald E. Hildebrand, Mexico; two sisters, Mrs. Lee (Betty) Goslin, Mexico, and Mrs. Rose Mary Reese, Cheyenne; and numerous nieces and nephews.


Her parents, husband, four brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.


Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society and sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
