Lillie Geneva Exendine, 88, of Mexico , died Sunday, March 13, 2005 at University Hospital in Columbia .Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 16, at 1 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home with the Rev. Eldon Wilson officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery . Mrs. Exendine was born Oct. 19, 1916, in Pulaski County , a daughter of John Jefferson and Lillie Mae (Blalock) Crossland. On Oct. 6, 1935, in Lebanon , she married Robert L. Exendine, who survives at the home. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Pulaski County . In addition to her husband survivors include one son, Robert E. "Gene" Exendine and his wife Jessie, Mexico; a brother, Kemmel Crossland and wife Ella Mae, Richland; a sister, Eunice Schmidt and husband Ray, Mineral Wells, Texas; a sister-in-law, Peggy Crossland, Springfield; 5 grandchildren, Sharon Swon and husband Bruce, Mexico, Karen Haase and husband Greg, Auxvasse, Rob Exendine and wife Leslie, Lincoln, Mo., Rick Exendine and wife Julie, Thompson, Rhonda Robinett and husband Sam, Auxvasse; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Robert, Ben, and Sam Crossland; and 4 sisters, Cora Perrine, Emma Williams, Arena Kreuser, and Ruth Woodrum. She was devoted to her family; she always put others ahead of herself.Geneva worked at Hercules Powder Plant in Lawrence , Kan. making munitions during World War II. After moving to Mexico in 1948 she cooked for many years at the Saddle Horse Café and also worked for a time at the Air Park Motel.
