Marie Resa, 79, of Mexico, died at 4:56 a.m. Monday Jan. 2, 2017, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Ostrom officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Mo.

Marie was born in Peculiar, Mo. on Sept. 7, 1937, the daughter of Howard and Nita (Taylor) Welborn. On Jan. 29, 1960, in Kansas City she married Gary Resa who survives at the home. She graduated from Peculiar High School. She was retired from the Western & Southern Insurance Company.

In addition to her husband of 56 years, she is survived by one son, Kevin Resa and wife Cindy, O'Fallon; one daughter, Shelby Resa-Peak, Mexico; three grandchildren, Jason Wansing, Phoenix, Az., Brandon Resa and Makenzie Resa, Mexico; and two step grandchildren, Madeline and Mallorie Beezley, O'Fallon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Eldon Welborn; and one sister, June Acres.
