Martha "Marti" Cook

Martha Gail (Marti) Cook, nee Fitzgerald, 42, of Mexico, died at 10:32 a.m., November 15, 2006, at University Hospital in Columbia.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Brendan Church with Father John Schmitz officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home with a vigil prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Brendan Cemetery.

Ms. Cook was born on Nov. 12, 1964, in St. Louis, a daughter of John Francis and Janet C. (Glaser) Fitzgerald. She was a member of St. Brendan Church in Mexico and worked as a Corrections Officer II at the Women s Eastern Regional Diagnostic and Correction Center in Vandalia, where she was selected by her co-workers as Employee of the Month for November.

Survivors include a son, Sean Michael Fitzgerald, 8, Mexico; her mother, Jan Fitzgerald, Lake Ozark; two brothers, Francis M. (Frank) Fitzgerald and Laurie, St. Charles, and John W. Fitzgerald and Hollie, St. Louis; eight sisters, Kathleen (Kay) A. Fitzgerald, Jefferson City, Patricia (Patty) L. Bartlett, Roswell, Ga., Maureen A. LeRoy and Bob, Taos, Margaret (Peggy) C. Raymond, Indianapolis, Ind., Pauline (Pauli) K. Bowermaster and Bruce, Wood River, Ill., Mary F. Fitzgerald, Mexico, Rose E. Jennings, Florissant, and Janet L. Vannatter and Mark, Paducah, Ky.; a brother-in-law, Luis Villeda and Doris, Maryland Heights; and 23 nieces and nephews.

Her father, two sisters, Rita M. Fitzgerald and Eileen E. Villeda, and two brothers-in-law, Jerry Bartlett and Larry Jennings, preceded her in death.
