Mary L. Johnson

Mary Louise Johnson, 100, of Urbandale, Iowa, formerly of Mexico, died at 6:00 a.m. on July 9, 2006, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.

Mrs. Johnson was born on Aug. 4, 1905, in Columbia, a daughter of Ernest Stewart and Eugenia Grace Burk Haden. She was a graduate of Columbia (Mo.) High School. On Oct. 15, 1923, in Columbia, she married Chauncy M. Johnson Sr., who died on Feb. 3, 1977. She was a member of the Mexico United Methodist Church, DAR, and TOPS for more than 25 years.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on July 13, 2006, at Pickering Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Stone officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother to her two daughters-in-law, Billye Jane Johnson, Des Moines, and Claudia Johnson, Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Frances Smith, Phoenix, Ariz.; four granddaughters, one grandson, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, all living in the Des Moines area; three granddaughters, seven great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren, Memphis, Tenn.

In addition to her husband, three sons, Chauncy Jr., William Bill and Robert A. Johnson, and one brother, Ernest Haden Jr., preceded her in death.
