Michael Burton, 75, of Mexico, formerly of Arcadia, Missouri, passed away at 7:05 a.m. Sunday July 28, 2024, at his home in Mexico.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. His care was entrusted to Pickering Funeral Home.

Michael was born March 2, 1949, in Pontiac, Michigan. He was the son of Ivan Burrett and
Bertha Mavis (Scott) Burton.

He worked in construction most of his life. He was a motorcycle and classic car enthusiast and he also enjoyed fishing. He was an entrepreneurial spirit that found opportunities in unlikely places. When asked, his daughters said, "He was known for defending and standing by them in every scenario. They were never left feeling like he wasn't in their corner- even if they might have been in the wrong."

Survivors include his loving companion, Erma Alston, of Holly, Michigan; his step-father Lowell Rhodes, of Port Charlotte, Florida; four daughters, Rachelle Burton (Daniel Anderson), of Hudson, Florida, Jacqueline Strom (Lincoln), of Luray, Virginia, Jessica Skaggs (Bill), of Mexico, and Nicole Wagnon (Christoper), of Sequim, Washington; one sister, Sheila Burton, of Piedmont, Missouri; 14 grandchildren, Joseph and Jessica Lefebvre, Rocco and Carla Cevoli, Cameron and Claudia Felten, Chelsea and Christen Strom, Christopher and Susan Turner, Hannah, Braden, and Jared Skaggs, and Declan Wagnon; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Leta Jones.
