Mildred "Millie" Willis, 89, of Jefferson City, formerly of Mexico, died at 10:57 a.m., Monday Jan. 21, 2019, at Heisinger Bluffs in Jefferson City.


Funeral services will be held at Noon, Saturday Jan. 26, 2019, at Pickering Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Mueller officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service time. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park.


Mildred was born Feb. 23, 1929, in Mexico, the daughter of Ira and Bessie (Gray) Charles. On Dec. 2, 1945, in Mexico, she married Elbert "Willie" Willis who preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2010.


Millie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed taking care of her family. She was an excellent cook and homemaker. Millie enjoyed traveling all over with her husband. Some of her favorite things to do were play Canasta with her ladies card club, listen to country music and spend time with her loved ones. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mexico.


Survivors include one daughter Teresa "Teka" Willis and wife Evie of Mexico; two grandchildren, Kimberly Gish of Wardsville, Mo., and Jared Hunt and wife Angela, Jefferson City; five great grandchildren, Tyler and Parker Gish and Madden Hunt, and Andrew and Audrey Hunt; and several nieces and nephews.


In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie P. Martin and Zola May Foreman; and two brothers, Glen and Irvin Charles.
