Nona Jane Oliver

Nona Jane Oliver, 83, of Mexico, died at 5:40 p.m., July 2, 2012 at Audrain Medical Center in Mexico.

Memorial services will be Thursday, July 5, 2012, 7 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Sheppard officiating. Visitation is from 4 p.m. Thursday until the time of the service.

Nona was born in Mexico on Dec. 5, 1928 to Thomas A. and Helen M. McIntyre. She attended St. Brendan, Eugene Field, Hardin Jr. High Schools and graduated from Mexico High School in 1946. In 1949 she married John F. (Pete) Oliver of Montgomery City, at the Presbyterian Church in Mexico.

She was an employee of Southwestern Bell, office manager of Oliver Trucking, Inc., and Audrain Medical Center in respiratory therapy. She was a bookkeeper and a published poet. In 1962 she was named Outstanding Young Woman in Mexico. Nona was a member of White Shrine and Eastern Star and lifetime member of Audrain Medical Center Auxiliary. She was a Girl Scout leader, and worked with the local American Red Cross for over 50 years.

Nona is survived by two daughters, Jan Oliver Jolly, Joy (Mike) Oliver Keith,; one son, Jon (Sharon) Oliver, all of Mexico; and one sister Anne Hoffman of Montgomery City. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jamie Oliver Davis of Gofrey, Ill., Lane Jolly of Culver, CA., Casey Jolly of San Antonio, Tx, and Katelin Keith of Mexico, and Kristen Keith of Kansas City, Mo; and step grandchildren Brian and Angela Hoer of Olathe KS, and Elecia and Ryan Eskew of Mexico; and one great-grandson, Cade Michael Davis of Godfrey, Ill. and one step great-grandson Dagan Hoer of Gilbert, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Tom McIntyre, of Reno Neveda, and two grandchildren Jon Stephen and Jona Kay Oliver. Late in 1979 she met the love of her life Rual Roz Morris who preceded her in death in Jan. 2007. They lived together happily for 28 years enjoying her grandchildren and children.

Memorials may be given to Jordan Waters Heart Center or Little Dixie Shrine Club. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
