Norma Jean Barnes

Norma Jean Barnes, 83, of Mexico, died at 9:50 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, at SSM St. Mary's Hospital - Audrain in Mexico.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Donaldo Sonntag officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Pickering Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Norma was born Jan. 7, 1936, in Ute, Iowa, the daughter of Herbert and Clara (Schwingdorf) Jahn. On Sept. 15, 1954, in Brighton, CO, she married Henry "Ron" Barnes, who preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 2013.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She worked for many years as a finance manager at Carroll Motor Company, and she had also worked as a legal secretary at Seigfried, Runge, Leonatti and Pohlmeyer Law Firm.

Survivors include one son, Wayde Barnes and wife Linda of Mexico; one daughter, Joy Carpenter and husband George of Rogers, Arkansas; three sisters, Nancy Failla of Columbus, Ohio, Elaine Kelley of Denver Colorado, and Donna Schuler of Loveland, Colorado; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Randall; and one infant daughter Rhonda.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
