Patrick Dermody



Donald Patrick Pat Dermody, 76, of Mexico, died at 3:10 a.m., Sunday, July 15, 2007, at Audrain Medical Center.


A memorial service will be held on July 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Pickering Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert H. Marty officiating.


Mr. Dermody was born on June 12, 1931, in Mexico, the son of Robert V. and Rita Eileen (Barnes) Dermody. He was a graduate of Mexico High School and attended the University of Missouri. He had served in the U.S. Army on an ocean-going tugboat during the Korean Conflict. His duty assignments were in Newfoundland and The Azores. After his discharge he was a member of the National Guard. He had worked in Quality Control at both Mexico Refractories and Kaiser Refractories. After retiring he had worked in the Auction Barn east of Mexico. Pat was a music fan, especially big band and dixieland jazz and blues genres. He was an avid collector of almost everything and he did some appraising, although not on a professional level.


Survivors include one brother, Ned Dermody, Shenandoah, Iowa; and one cousin, Conard Smith, Bainbridge Island, Wash.; and four nieces and nephews.


Memorial gifts may be made to the Audrain Historical Society, designated for the Firebrick Museum, and may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home.
