Ralph L. Millard


Ralph Lee Millard, 81, of Mexico, died at 3:10 a.m. Sunday, February 15, 2015, at Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico.


His family will receive friends and celebrate his life from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19th at Pickering Funeral Home. Private family interment will be held at a later date.


Ralph was born in Fulton on May 28, 1933, a son of Ralph and Ella (Maupin) Millard. On Feb. 13, 1954, in Mexico, he married Anna Lois Young. Mrs. Millard died Feb. 28, 2003.


Mr. Millard worked for 15 years driving for Gygr Gas in Boonville, he retired in 1998. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He liked playing cards, pitching horseshoes and playing pool. Most recently he played pool at the Senior Center. He was a member of American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He was a veteran, serving in the Army during the Korean War from 1950-1953.


Survivors include two sons, Joe Millard and wife Karrie, Mexico, and Donnie Millard and wife Terri, Paris; one daughter, Tricia Brown and husband Basil, Mexico; 3 half-brothers, Kenny Owen and wife Karen, Mexico, Bob Owen, Mexico, and Ted Millard, Jefferson City; five grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.


In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Beth Millard, one brother, Donald Millard, and one half-sister, Janice Owen.


In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given to the Mexico Senior Center. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
