Ramona Davidson
Ramona Kay Davidson, born September 30, 1962, to George Irving and Janice Jean (Cornelius) Alden of Hamilton, Mo., died at 3:05 a.m., Friday, Dec.7, 2007 at her home in Mexico.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at Pickering Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Jones officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park
She was a 1980 graduate of Penney High School in Hamilton where she was a cheerleader, wrestling statistician, a member of FHA and played the flute, piccolo, alto and baritone saxophones in the concert and pep bands. She was active in the Knee-Hi 4-H Club, serving as President, Vice president, Secretary and Treasurer and, showed registered Shorthorn cattle for 9 years. Ramona also served as Daviess County Farm Bureau queen as well as an alternate queen for the Missouri Shorthorn Lassies.
After graduating, she attended Northwest Missouri State University seeking a degree in Business Finance and Management. She left Northwest in 1983 to attend Headquarters Academy of Hair Design in Trenton, Mo., and obtained her state Cosmetology license. She worked for Investors Federal Bank and Savings while owning her own hair design business.
Ramona, in 1987, had a daughter, Whitney Nichole. In 1991, she moved to Mexico where, in 1993, Ramona met & married Bruce Davidson and in 1994 gave birth to their son, Dallas Alden Davidson.
Ramona ran a daycare and house cleaning business, owned a desktop publishing company, and worked as an office manager for two local businesses. She was a substitute teacher for the Mexico Public Schools for five years as well as a cheerleading coach for Mexico Junior High for two years. At the same time she assisted her husband, Bruce, farming and raising 40 head of cattle.
Ramona took a break from farming to work for Martinsburg Bank and Trust in 2004 and shortly thereafter, she was diagnosed with Leiomyo Sarcoma cancer. Although she was never able to return to work, Ramona touched many lives with her never-ending smile and unending faith.
Ramona was a member of Lockewood Park Baptist Church. She enjoyed scrapbooking, swimming, 4-wheeling, deer hunting with her son, Dallas, fishing and being involved with her children's school activities. Ramona attended Janet's Dance Studio for five years and she also enjoyed raising llamas and Jack Russell Terriers.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce; daughter, Whitney and son, Dallas; parents, George and Janice Alden, two brothers, Robert and wife Beverly, and Ron and wife Judy, all of Hamilton, Mo.; and five nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
Memorials may be made to the Ramona Davidson Memorial Account, a trust fund for her children, and sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
