Rance Vanskike, 74, of Mexico, died at 7:30 a.m., Saturday May 14, 2022, at his home in Mexico.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Friendship Baptist Church in Mexico with Rev Glenn Forman officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Pickering Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Rance was born November 10, 1947 in Mexico the son of Claude Monroe Vanskike and Lois Elvira (Towne) Vanskike. On September 11, 1966 in Mexico he married Martha Ellene Pace. She survives with their children, Richard Allen Vanskike (wife Jodi), of Columbia, and Sarah Joann Vanskike (husband Kent Henry) of Mexico.

He is also survived by a brother, Mark Vanskike of Mexico, a step-brother, Mark Clark of Mexico a step-sister, Cindy (Phil) March of Centralia, and a sister-in-law Sherry Vanskike, as well as a step-daughter, Cathy Finch of Mexico.

Rance is preceded in death by his parents, Claude Vanskike and Lois Vanskike Johnson, his older brother, Dwayne Vanskike, his step-mother, Mildred Vanskike and step-father, Jack Johnson, and a step-brother, Ron Clark.

Rance graduated from Mexico High School in 1965 and from Moler Barber College in 1966. He was a barber for more than 30 years, retiring from Terminal Barber Shop. Many little boys got their first haircuts free from Rance.

He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Mexico Odd Fellows, former member of Mexico Jaycees, Mexico Morning Kiwanis and the Moose Lodge.
