Becky Stephens



Rebecca Ann Becky Stephens, 60, of Thompson, died at 1:30 p.m., Monday, December 21, 2009 at Audrain Medical Center in Mexico.


Becky was born Sept. 17, 1949, in Louisiana, Mo., a daughter of Franklin Thomas and Elizabeth Ann (Howard) Parker. On Feb. 11, 1972, she married Glen Raymond Stephens at the home of her parents, Tom and Bettye Parker, in Harrisburg.


She received a Bachelor of Journalism in Advertising from the University of Missouri, Columbia in 1971. She worked for several years as a sales representative for the Mexico Ledger and for KXEO/KWWR. She was co-owner of Stephens Insurance Agency and Glen Stephens Hauling & Excavating for over 30 years. She had been involved with the Mexico Jaycee Wives and the Audrain County 4-H as a Community Leader and was a member of the Centralia First Christian Church.


Becky is survived by her husband Glen; her parents, Tom and Bettye, of Columbia; two sons, Joe Stephens, Columbia, and Matthew Stephens, Centralia; one brother, Dr. John Parker, Columbia; one sister, Merry Beth Hardy, Fayette; and five grandchildren, Ava, Caroline, Tess, Mack, and Cate.


A private service will be held at the family farm. The family will receive friends in a celebration of Becky s life from 6 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, the American Legion, west of Mexico on Hwy. 22.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the Rebecca A. Stephens Memorial Scholarship Fund, established for graduating Centralia High School students bound for college. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
