Robert N. Beasley

Robert Neal Beasley, 79, of Mexico, died at 4:18 p.m. Jan. 20, 2008, at Samaritan Memorial Hospital in Macon. He had been a resident of Macon Health Care Center in Macon for about a year.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Pickering Funeral Home in Mexico. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home, with the rosary being recited at 6 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Mr. Beasley was born on May 6, 1928, in Waterloo, Iowa, son of William Albert and Jessie Mae (Parker) Beasley. He was a self-employed business owner and mechanic since 1956. He owned and operated Bob s 66 from 1963 until his retirement. On Sept. 19, 1945, in Auxvasse, he married Neola Applebee, who died on Nov. 21, 2005.

He was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church, loved to camp and fish. He enjoyed dancing, banjo, harmonica, and music.

Survivors include three sons, Robert R. Beasley and wife Brenda, Marceline, Gary N. Beasley, Austin, Texas, and Arnold W. Beasley and wife Sally, Thompson; two brothers, Roland Beasley and wife Margaret, Sunny Side Washington, and Russell Beasley and wife Shirley, Richmond; three sisters, Geraldine Marquand, Waterloo, Iowa, Bernadine Davidson and husband Ed, Lake Lotawana, and Deanna Moore, Callao; two grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; four great grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren; and one nephew, H. Michael Morris and wife Sally, Mexico. Mike was like a son and lived with them during his high school years.

In addition to his wife, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
