Robert W. Marietta

Robert W. (Bob) Marietta, age 85, of Mexico, died at 6:08 am Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Audrain Medical Center.

Mr. Marietta was born in Mexico on October 7, 1926, son of Melvin O. and Mae (Hebel) Marietta. He attended Mexico High School and served in the US Army during WWII stationed in Hawaii, attaining the rank of Tec4/Sergeant. On April 26, 1947 he married Anna Margaret Kelly, who survives at the home. He was the Manager of the Singer Sewing Machine Store in Mexico prior to his employment with Kaiser/National Refractories. He retired in 1988.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Linda (Scott) Halverson and Vicki (Ron) McKinney of Mexico; one son, Larry (Donna) Marietta of Millersburg; grandchildren Sarah Pulis & Kelly (JoAnne) Marietta, Mexico; Aaron (Leslie) Marietta, Salt Lake City, UT, Christina & Chasity Marietta, Millersburg; and several cousins, including Ruth (Gerald) Chaney of Mexico and Harold Stephens of Boonville; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Marietta; step-father William (Bill) Archer; mother, Mae Archer. Visitation will be held from 1-3 pm at Pickering Funeral Home on Saturday, July 7th with gravesite services following at Elmwood Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be observed.
