Roque Lopez

Roque Lopez, 82, of Union, formerly of Mexico, died at 7:53 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at St. John,s Mercy in Washington.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home in Mexico with theRev. Jerry Ostrom officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Lopez was born Aug. 16, 1925, in Brownsville, Texas, a son of Homobono and Maria (Flores) Lopez. On Sept. 22, 1950, in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, he married Wilda H. Simmons. Mrs. Lopez preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 2003.

Roque was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy from 1943 until 1948. He was a Medical Technologist and worked for Audrain Medical Center for 35 years, retiring in 1985.

Survivors include two sons, Edward R. Lopez, Wellington, and William Bradley Lopez and wife Donna, Union; two grandchildren, Hannah and Clinton.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by two sisters.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to the Audrain Medical Center Charitable Foundation. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
