Rosafay Hassen


Rosafay Hassen, 76, of Mexico, died at 1:52 p.m., Monday, June 8, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis with her brother, Sid and sister-in-law, Madeline at her side.


A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2015, at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Kukuk officiating. A visitation will be held following the service until 3 p.m. According to Rosafay's wishes, a private family burial will be held in Elmwood Cemetery.


Rosafay, a daughter of Hassen H. Hassen Jr. and Rose (Alamadeen Fayad) Hassen, was born February 26, 1939, in Mexico, MO and lived there in the family home on Liberty Street for over seventy years.


Throughout her career, she worked several places including Frey Trucking, AP Green Refractories, Wetterau Foods, Hoffman's Grocery, and Hassen's Creamery. But her greatest love was caring for her devoted parents in their later years and keeping in touch with her loving family members and friends.


Survivors include two brothers, Fred Hassen and wife Sue of Houston, TX, and Sid Hassen and wife Madeline of Washington, MO; one sister Amelia Toney of Fond du Lac, WI; one niece; five nephews; seven great nieces; three great nephews and five great great nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents.


In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association or any other charity of your choice. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
