Roy S. Harper, 92, of Mexico died at 12:45 p.m., Tuesday Feb. 7, 2017, at SSM Saint Mary's Hospital - Audrain, in Mexico.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday March 13, 2017, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, Mo. There will be a visitation on Sunday, March 12, 2017, from 2 - 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Mexico.

Roy was born in Mexico on June 9, 1924, a son of Victor and Mary (Jackson) Harper. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

On July 2, 1949, in Hannibal, he married Sallie L. Hill who preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 2016.

He worked for many years for Wetterau Foods in Mexico. Roy was a member of First Baptist Church in Mexico and served the church in many capacities over the years. He was a master craftsman and spent many hours woodworking. Many friends have cherished items that were custom made by Roy.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Davis and wife Nancy, Winnsboro, SC, and Thomas Davis and wife Sharon, Mexico; three grandchildren, Joanna Douglass and husband Brooks, Jackson, TN, Dana Southerd and husband Mike, Jefferson City, and David Lipscomb and wife Dee, Huntsville; five great grandchildren, Dillon and Dallas Southerd, Paige Jefferson, Corbin Lipscomb, and Samantha Edgerton; and three great great grandchildren; he is also survived by two nieces, Debi Johnson, and Jean Maylee and husband Tim and their children Rebecca Brashear and husband Richard, and Erin Clifford and husband Justin.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
