Russ William Haerer, 62, of Mexico, died Friday evening, September 14, 2018, at Saint Mary's Hospital - Audrain.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Mexico with Pastor Joe Pike officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Private inurnment will take place later at the East Lawn Memorial Park Columbarium. Pickering Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Russ was born in Mexico on December 24, 1955. He is the son of Martin and Hazel (Crews) Haerer. On May 26, 1978, he married Judy Lynn Weber in Mexico. Judy survives at the home.

He was a graduate of Mexico High School in 1974 and CMSU Warrensburg in 1978. In High School he was a football captain and was a state Medalist in Wrestling. He was an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed woodworking, playing golf, and he was a MU Tigers football fan.

Russ was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a deacon, a long time Audio Visual team member, and he was the church treasurer for several years.

Russ was a computer electrical engineer and had worked for several companies including, McDonald Douglas 1979-1991, A.P. Green 1991-2002, ANH/RHI 2002-2010, Mid America Brick 2010-2013, and Gates 2013 to present time.

In addition to his wife survivors include his mother, Hazel Haerer, Mexico; one son, Randall Haerer and wife Brandi, Mexico; two daughters, Rachel Karhoff and husband Richard, Mexico, and Leah Haerer, Mexico; two sisters, Donna Haerer, Mexico, and Jill Winterhalter, Mexico; five grandchildren, Korbin and Maci Haerer, Madilynn, Jackson, and Carson Karhoff; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, James Haerer.
