Russell Polston

Loving husband and father, Russell Polston, 68, of Mexico, died at 2:18 p.m., Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Boone Hospital in Columbia and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Weldon Forman officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Mr. Polston was born on April 21, 1941, in Mexico to Virgil and Jane (Fox) Polston. On July 3, 1959, in Mexico, he married Patsy Blair who survives at the home. He was raised by his Aunt Viola Hughes Buck. He attended Centralia High School.

Russell was a Nascar Fan, former member of the Rusty Wallace Fan Club, avid outdoorsman, a member of the NRA, Mo Fur Trappers Association, National Wildlife Federation, and North American Fishing Club. He worked for Florsheim Shoe factory for 24 yrs. and the City of Mexico for 4 yrs. and was a member of Lockewood Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, Patsy, he is survived by three sons, Joe Polston and wife Robin, Russell David Polston, and Jeff Polston and wife Kelly, all of Mexico; two daughters, Joyce Williams and husband Doug and Jane Moyle and husband David, both of Mexico; one aunt, Anna Hoffmann, Hawk Point, Mo., 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, several cousins, nieces, nephews, and his extended Newbrough family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenny Polston; and two sisters, Barbara Ann Willis and Shirley Thompson.

Memorials may be given to Mo Dept. of Conservation, Lockewood Park Baptist Church, or Mo Baptist Children s Home. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
