Sallie L. Harper, 92, of Mexico, died at 12:10 p.m., Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at the King's Daughters Home in Mexico.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday March 13, 2016, at First Baptist Church in Mexico.

She was born in Mexico on Nov. 2, 1923, a daughter of Clyde L. and Mary Susan (Candy) Hill. On July 2, 1949, in Hannibal, she married Roy S. Harper who survives.

Sallie worked at International and Florsheim Shoe Factory for numerous years. She also worked at Hawthorne Elementary School as a playground aide for about 15 years. She graduated from Mexico High School in 1942. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Mexico and was the assistant treasurer and a Sunday School teacher for many years.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Kenneth Davis and wife Nancy, Winnsboro, South Carolina, and Thomas Davis and wife Sharon, Mexico; three grandchildren, Joanna Douglass and husband Brooks, Jackson, Tenn., Dana Southard and husband Mike, Jefferson City, Mo., and David Lipscomb and wife Dee, Huntsville, Mo.; five great grandchildren, Dillon and Dallas Southard, Paige Jefferson and husband Korey, Corbin Lipscomb, and Samantha Edgerton; and two great great grandchildren, Mavis and Nala Jefferson.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Memorial contributions may be given to the King's Daughters Home. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
