Sara G. McGinnis, 90, of Mexico, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Parkside Manor in Bowling Green.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Pickering Funeral Home with Brother Glenn Forman officiating. Private burial will be held at East Lawn Memorial Park at a later date.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Sara Gertrude (Schneider) McGinnis was born in Mexico, Missouri, on June 22, 1934. Sara grew up on a family farm in Santa Fe, Missouri, and attended school in a one-room school just down the road on Highway D. Sara graduated from Paris High School in 1952 and went on to attend nursing school in St. Louis, Missouri, where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She married Charlie McGinnis on July 1, 1960.

Sara enjoyed country life in Santa Fe. She liked needlepoint and crossword and word search puzzles. She was an avid reader and enjoyed writing and receiving letters.

Sara was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alpha Schneider; and by her husband Charlie after 28 years of marriage.

She is survived by her brother, Harold Schneider; and two sons, Charles (Jenny) McGinnis and James (June) McGinnis. Sara is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Sara was a kind and loving mother and grandmother. She was loved and will be missed. May she rest in peace.
