Sherry Lynn Fox, 73, of Mexico, died at 11:35 a.m. Saturday Aug. 1, 2020, at University Hospital in Columbia.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 5, 2020, at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Forman officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from Noon until service time. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Sherry was born Sept. 25, 1946, in Mexico, the daughter of George Davis and Rose Mary (Woolery) Damron. On June 26, 1965, in Mexico, she married Walter E. Fox. Mr. Fox preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 2001.

Sherry worked at Florsheim Shoe and later for many years in the deli for Plaza IGA and Darby's. She was an avid bird watcher, especially hummingbirds, and she loved flowers. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include one brother, Harry Damron and wife Crystal, Mexico; two sisters, Patty Lower, Mexico, and Sandy Diaz, Hollywood, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, George Davis "Dave" Damron, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Go Getters – Relay for Life Team. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.

The general public is welcome to attend the service while following social distancing guidelines.  It is also recommended by CDC that you wear a mask or other personal protective equipment.
