Velma A. Hueston Rivers, formerly of Mexico, died at 12:30 a.m. on January 5, 2004, in Stover. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at Pickering Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rick Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Mrs. Rivers was born on Sept. 25, 1906, in Reform, a daughter of Claude and Lula Barnum Estes. On Dec. 6, 1923, in Mexico, she married Ralph L. Hueston, who preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, Ralph L. Hueston Jr., Blue Springs; four grandchildren, Leann Hueston, Springfield, Mo., Dr. Allen and Janie Hueston, McKinney, Texas, Joyce and Terry Davis, Fort Dodge, Ia., and Christine and Don Dickey, Jefferson City; a step-sister, Frances Estes, Fulton; six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
