Velma A. Sparks

Velma Anne Sparks, 81, of Mexico, died at 12:39 p.m., Friday, June 25, 2010, at Audrain Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Jones officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. Family interment will be held at a later date in Dale Blair Memorial Gardens in Camdenton.

Velma was born October 5, 1928, in Fredericksburg, Texas, the daughter of Hilmer John and Pauline (Jung) Lott. She was a member of St. John s Lutheran Church in Mexico.

Survivors include one daughter, Gena Brown and husband L.G., Mexico; three sons, Dwight D. Sparks and wife Peggy, Roach, Donald R. Sparks and wife Pat, Raytown, Gary L. Sparks and wife Becky, Kansas City; one brother, Leonard P. Lott and wife Wanda, Fredericksburg, Texas; 11 grandchildren, those living locally include Kyle and Jessica Brown, Mexico, and Regena and Doug Heritage and Freddie Sparks, Roach; 17 great-grandchildren, living locally are Cayden K. Brown and Magdalena, Scott, and Evelynn Heritage, Roach; and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Otto W. Henke, and also her second husband, Donald D. Sparks; and one sister Ellen Lott.

Memorials may be given to American Diabetes Association. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
