Virginia Meek

Virginia E. Meek, 86, of Clinton, Mo., formerly of Mexico, died at 9:32 p.m., Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Golden Living/Westwood Nursing Home in Clinton.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Pickering Funeral Home with Rev. David Nash officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park in Mexico.

Mrs. Meek was born Dec. 27, 1923, in Mexico, a daughter of Russell E. and Martha May (Pratt) Phillips. On Sept. 8, 1946 in Mexico she married Hershel Buzz Meek who preceded her in death on March 2, 2005.

Virginia attended the First Christian Church in Mexico where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, reading, and knitting. She retired in 1983 after 17 years with A. P. Green Refractories.

She is survived by one son, Terry Allen Meek, Fenton; one daughter, Martha Wagner and husband Michael, Clinton; two step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
