Wallace (Wally) Maring, 92, of Mexico, MO, formerly of Iowa, went to be with the Lord on Sep 3, 2017.


Wally was born on July 6, 1925, in Grant, IA. He was the son of John F Maring and Letha (Lenhart) Maring. He graduated High School in Ottumwa, IA and immediately joined the Marine Corp. He participated in Iwo Jima Feb 23, 1945, to Mar 16, 1945, and in the occupation of Japan Sep 22, 1945, to Dec 15, 1945. On March 26, 1949, he married Margaret Haines in Ottumwa IA. 1945. She preceded him in death.


Wally served as Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IA. He was a Mason and was installed as Master and Past Master of the Masonic Lodge where he received his 50 year membership on Jan. 11, 2010, in the Emulation Lodge #255.


He was employed by Champion Packages and retired in 1985.


Survivors include one son, Randy Maring (Cindy) of Robins, IA; one daughter, Debra Voigt (Charles) of Mexico, MO; six grandchildren, Nikiah, Miranda, Megan, Jared, Jason, Jon; and three great-grandchildren, Nadia, Mikah, and Adeline.


A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday Sep. 8, 2017, at Community Baptist Church in Marion, IA.
