Wanita Clement

Wanita Clement, 78, died on Saturday, June 10, 2006, at Pin Oaks Nursing Center in Mexico.

Mrs. Clement moved to Mexico seven years ago after living her entire life in Wellsville.

She was born on Jan. 10, 1928, in Wellsville, a daughter of Marion Earle and Nancy Rebecca (Davis) Smith and was a graduate of Wellsville High School. She was married in Wellsville on July 12, 1947, to Joseph Ned W. Clement, who preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 1994.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mexico and was also active in the community serving as a volunteer for the AMC Auxiliary in which she had served as an officer. She served as secretary for the Wellsville Methodist Church for 25 years. She was a member of the Wellsville VFW Women s Auxiliary. Wanita enjoyed bowling and played on various leagues for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Clement, Mexico and Neva Gaile and husband Mel, Salina, Okla.; two sisters, Nadine Brandenburg and husband Harry, Williamsburg, Va. and Wanda Turner, Sheldon, Mo.; three grandchildren, Collin Clement, Mexico, Mary Ann Fritz, Fulton, and Bradley Laughlin, Fulton; two great grandchildren, Ryan and Brandon Fritz, Fulton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, at 1 p.m. at Pickering Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Smith officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wellsville Cemetery.
