William P. Johnson, 78, of Mexico died Tuesday evening, Sept. 11, 2018, at his home in Mexico.

Mr. Johnson was born Jan. 4, 1940, in Mexico, son of William N. and Louise (Carter) Johnson. He graduated from Mexico High School. He was married to Connie O'Neal in Mexico on May 1, 1960.

He loved hot rod race cars and dragsters.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Phil Johnson, Vandalia, and Timothy Johnson, Mexico; one daughter, Tammy Morgan, Mexico; one brother, John Johnson, Columbia; 3 granddaughters; and 2 great grandsons.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ed and Bob Johnson.
