William Charles Morgan, 89, of Mexico, died at 11:15 p.m., Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at Pin Oaks Living Center in Mexico.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at Pickering Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from noon until service time. Burial with Military Honors will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Bill was born May 3, 1927, in Eugene, Missouri, the son of William B. and Louise J. Leuckonette, Morgan. He had previously been married to Lucille Dull and Betty Layman.

He was a member of the Catholic Church at Mary's Home, Mo., and he attended school at Eugene, Mo.

In 1943, he went to Kansas City, Mo. and worked at Black, Sivalls and Bryson until entering the US Navy serving during World War II from 1945 to 1946. He served in the Pacific Theater in the 61st and 100th Seabee units. After returning from service, he bought a farm and ran a construction company for a short time. He came to Mexico in 1947 and worked at A.P. Green Industries for 43 years and 4 months before retiring on February 1, 1991. He also worked as a self-employed part-time painter during his first 18 years in Mexico. He also had taught welding at the Hart Vocational-Technical School in Mexico from 1968 until 1976 and then for one year of adult night classes. After retirement he spent his time raising purebred Simmental cattle, fishing and doing miscellaneous carpentry and welding jobs.

Survivors include one daughter, Janice Marie Morgan, Mexico; a daughter in law, Mary Ellen Brzuchalski Morgan, Warrensburg; two sisters, Vera Schreyer, Agoura Hills, Cal., and Judy Thompson, Brumley, Mo.; four grandchildren, Shawn Morgan, Stacy Morgan, Kristi Lynn Stuart, and Kimberly Morgan; and two great grandchildren, Matthew Wyatte and Brayden.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Mary Louise Steenburgen, Glenda Olivia Wright, Ilene Walton and Katheryn Morgan; and two sons, Alan G. Morgan and Curtis D. Morgan.

Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church, Wounded Warrior Project, or St. Jude Children's Hospital. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
