Carolyn Mae (Hall) Rice, 80, of Norman, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at her home.
She was born April 9, 1937 in Fulton, Missouri to James Belvard (Beck) Hall and Sallie
Virginia Pickering Hall.
She graduated from Fulton High School in 1955 and attended the University of Missouri and William Woods College.  She married Edward Lewis (E.L.) Rice on February 18,1961.
Carolyn and E.L. made their first home in Kansas City, Missouri, where their son was born, then moved to Salina, Kansas where their daughter was born, finally landing in Liberal, Kansas where both children grew up. A final career move with Safeway Stores to Ponca City brought them to Oklahoma.
Once her children were older, Carolyn worked as a substitute teacher and travel agent for many years and enjoyed seeing the world in that capacity. In Ponca City, she moved into the healthcare field and loved caring for people. Later in life, she decided to fulfill a life-long dream by going back to school to earn her certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
She was a caring mother and wife and participated in many activities to support her children in their pursuits. She was active with the PTA and as classroom mom. She was also active in her social sorority of Beta Sigma Phi in Liberal and continued on when she moved to Ponca City. Later, she moved to Norman to be closer to her children. She was often the life of the party at her monthly Bunko gatherings.
She is survived by her son Craig Edward Rice and wife Juanita, her daughter Julie Rene Horn and husband Jeff of Norman; her brother John Deurell (Jay) Hall, of Arlington, Texas; her grandchildren Kira Rice Hills and her husband James of Bartlesville; Parker Rice of Durham, North Carolina, and Skylar and Addison Horn, both of Norman. She is also survived by her precious new great-grandson, Camden Lewis Hills. She was preceded in death by her husband E.L. Rice; her mother Sallie V. Wallace; step-father Harris Lee Wallace, and her father James Belvard Hall.
