Mark R. Morgan, 60, of Mexico, died at 5:26 p.m. Wednesday November 21, 2018, at University Hospital in Columbia.
Mark was born June 28, 1958, in St. Joseph, Mo., the son of Donald and Beth (Hart) Morgan. On May 24, 1980, in St. Joseph, he married Pamela J. Anderson, both Central High School alumni and high school sweethearts. He went on to earn his BS in Broadcasting from NW Mo. State in Maryville and began working in radio at KXCV. He then spent 15 years with KXEO-KWWR in Mexico as a Broadcast Newsman, Writer, and Announcer. He then worked briefly at Mexico Ledger. Most recently he served as transcriber and technical writer with Mexico Public Safety for the past 22 years.
Mark was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Mexico. He was a long time lay minister and also editor of the church newsletter. He was a lifelong train enthusiast and was a charter member the Mexico Train Works model railroad club.
He is survived by his wife Pam; his mother Beth Ann Morgan, St. Joseph; two daughters, Rebecca Morgan, Mexico, and Angela Morgan, Kansas City; his grandson Jackson Adams; one sister, Renee Meng and husband Ray, Wathena, Ks.; four sisters-in-law; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, and his father.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 1, 2018, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Mexico with Rev. Christina Cobb and Deacon Beth Simpson officiating. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday Nov. 30, 2018, at Pickering Funeral Home in Mexico.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Mexico Public Safety, or to the Cathran Cushman Scholarship fund at NW Mo. State. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western, Mexico, MO 65265.
